Job Description:

Position Information The Psychiatrist will provide high-quality psychiatric care to students at the University of California Riverside. This includes evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and medication management. This position operates within the Student Health Services team and collaborates closely with the Mental Health Initiatives cluster, which include Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), Student Well-being, and Follow up Team (SWIFT), and Case Management, to ensure the integration of psychiatric and counseling care to ensure a holistic and coordinate approach to patient care. This patient population is interesting, highly motivated, and generally very responsible about their psychiatric care. Communicates as necessary with primary care physicians and with outside therapists. Collaborates with Care Coordination regarding hospitalized patients or patients with complicated medical needs. Other supports include robust informational systems, user-friendly electronic medical record system, on-site member services, a quality management team, and expert practice management. The position provides 85% face-to-face clinical time (60 minutes for new intakes, 30 minutes for follow-up visits), 10% allotted for administrative tasks and 5 % allotted for collaboration with the Mental Health Initiatives cluster on student cases, treatment plans, and crisis management support. This position will be hired between 80% to 100% FTE. The full salary range for the Student Health Psychiatrist is $160,723 - $412,561 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $319,400 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements. Education Education Requirements Graduate of an accredited Medical School and successful completion of a Psychiatry Residency at an ACGME accredited program. (Required) License Requirements Current unrestricted License to practice medicine in the state of California. Possession of an unrestricted Federal DEA license and have a Board Certification in Psychiatry. (Required) Must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) / Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) card and must be maintained in accordance with the American Heart Association standards. (Required) Certification Requirements ABMS/AOA Board Certification in Psychiatry. (Required) Educational Condition Requirements Completion of Psychiatry Residency at an ACGME accredited program. (Required) Minimum Requirements Must be able to work in a collaborative manner. Knowledge of standards of psychiatric care in the greater community. Must be able to diagnose patient condition and make associated treatment recommendations. Knowledge of AAAHC requirements relating to psychiatric diagnosis, treatment and record keeping. Experience with ICD 9/ICDI0 coding, DSM-5 in billing. Knowledge of HIPAA, confidentiality and patient privacy issues pertaining to the delivery of health care. Experience with Electronic Medical Records. Must be able to influence others. Must have effective diagnostic and decision making skills in area of specialty/expertise. Knowledge of issues of special importance to college/university students, including drug and alcohol use, eating disorders, chemical dependency and abuse, ADHD, LD, etc. Expert clinical skills. Ability to work and communicate in a positive and cooperative manner in a multidisciplinary environment. Goodwritten and oral communication skills using fluent English, including medical charting and correspondence. Knowledge of current psychiatric diagnosis and treatment principles relating to general practice, and specifically to a young adult population. Strong interest in working with college age patients. Awareness of special issues affecting students engaged inrigorous academic programs and experiencing life on campus and developmental issues as they impact astudents adjustment to campus life. Sensitivity to issues relating to cultural diversity and the problems inadjustment faced by native and foreign students in an unfamiliar environment. Sensitivity to mental health issues of special importance to gay and lesbian students. A reasonable level of auditory acuity and be able to communicate effectively with students and their family and providers and staff.
