Principal Investigator, John P. Our laboratory also studies the mechanisms that govern malignant transformation of hematopoietic stem cells to leukemia stem cells. The Research Associate II in the Chute laboratory will utilize state-of-the-art molecular biology techniques, genetic models, imaging and quantitative assessments of hematopoietic stem cells and their progeny in order to discover and characterize novel mechanisms that control hematopoietic stem cell fate. In keeping with this, the Research Associate II will also be involved in the design of therapeutic targeting studies using small molecules or custom - designed antibodies to promote hematopoietic regeneration in vitro and in vivo.In this role, the Postdoctoral Scientist works independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal Investigator (PI) -and other Research Scientists. The Postdoctoral Scientist will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period. The incumbent may develop, adapt, -implement new research techniques and protocols, analyzes and interprets data. This position may -assist in the preparation of grant proposals and may participate -in publications and presentations as author or co-author. This role is not responsible for generating grant funds.---------Primary Duties and Responsibilities: -

Designs and performs experimentsMaintains appropriate experimental records and documentation and analyze the results with the Principal InvestigatorMay develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols -Analyzes, interprets, summarizes and compiles data - -Performs routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training periodOperates and maintains equipment and instruments -
Education:Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in area directly related to field of research specialization, -requiredExperience: -
Works independently on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI) within area of specializationAcquires thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of research project and objectives during one to five (1-5) year post-doctoral appointmentDemonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipmentKnowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipmentPhysical Demands: -Able to perform moderate lifting. Able to sit, stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. Able to read papers and online documents. Able to operate standard office equipment. Able to exercise physical ability and perspective acuity to satisfactorily perform essential job functions.
