OUR MISSION
Through academic rigor, character development, and a structured
learning environment, Soleil Academy Charter School ensures that
every transitional kindergarten through 5th-grade scholar has the
foundation necessary for college success and a future bright with
opportunity.
THE POSITION
The Principal will act as Soleil Academy's most critical lever in
ensuring student achievement and forging a successful academic
program. The Principal oversees the leadership team and shares
management responsibilities of teachers with the Deans. Similarly,
the Principal shares management responsibilities of operations
staff with the Operations Manager and Director.
To Students
THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and ensure the effective delivery of instruction,
including English Learner and Special Education Programs
- Create and maintain a joyful, safe, structured, and engaging
school and classroom environment that grows as a community of
individuals working together to learn.
- Oversee the development and administration of a variety of
formal and informal assessments to measure student growth and
mastery and to improve instruction
- Implement, monitor, and sustain school-wide systems and
expectations
- Oversee the planning and implementation of intervention
strategies for struggling students
- Oversee and provide supervision before school, during student
lunch, and after school, as assigned in order to maintain student
safety
- Oversee the implementation of programs to support English
Learners and students with special needs
- Coordinate and oversee the administration of the CAASPP, ELPAC,
and other state and national norm-referenced tests
To Staff
- Provide daily school leadership, including all instructional,
operational, and financial components
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the school's academic and
operational systems, including instructional and academic strategic
planning and curriculum development across two satellite
campuses
- Recruit, hire, supervise, train, and evaluate high-quality
staff
- Serve as the school's primary spokesperson and communicate
effectively with all stakeholders
- Attend monthly board meetings and assist Executive Director in
preparation of reports to the Board regarding school academic,
cultural, and operational health
- Evaluate school performance on multiple measures and adjust
programs accordingly to maximize achievement for all learners
- Develop an annual strategic plan and ensure follow through with
all stakeholders
- Oversee, manage, and develop the leadership team
- Oversee and lead high-quality professional development for the
school
- Oversee and support student recruitment and enrollment to
fulfill our mission and vision
- Attend and monitor implementation of IEPs and evaluate
effectiveness of Special Education and EL Program
- Ensure implementation of daily academic schedule and oversee
development of the staff schedule
- Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all students and
employees
- Engage in professional growth opportunities
- Build and sustain a school culture based on the school's BRIGHT
core values
- Create structures for and oversee meaningful parental
involvement
- Develop the school annual performance report, the SARC, and the
LCAP
- Oversee the execution of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports
(MTSS)
- Co-lead Cafecitos, ELAC/DELAC, and PAC Meetings
- Ensure that the school follows all applicable policies and
State and Federal laws
Required
THE QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree preferred, Bachelor's Degree required, and a
minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, instructional expertise
with meeting the needs of similar student populations in urban
areas
- California teaching certification and Administrative
credentials will be favorably considered and not required
- Demonstrated classroom success on both internal and national
assessments
- Knowledge of applicable education laws and regulatory
compliance
- Knowledge of school finance, budgetary planning, and accounting
principles
- Training or relevant experience in school management
- Experience having led teachers required
- Experience having developed and led professional development
preferred
- Detail-oriented, organized professional with the ability to
manage multiple priorities
- Reflective leader, able to recognize strengths and weaknesses
and proactively works to address weaknesses
- Strong communicator capable of effectively addressing various
stakeholders within the Lynwood community
- Critical thinker, problem solver, committed to realizing the
school's mission and success
- TB Clearance
- COVID-19 Vaccination (Up to date)
