working on exciting projects such as Avatar: The Last Airbender
feature film, Netflix's Stranger Things animated series, as well as
Tales From Outer Suburbia by Shaun Tan. The Senior Production
Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the day to day
finance operations of Flying Bark’s animation productions. This
includes budgeting, forecasting, tracking expenses, and ensuring
compliance with industry standards and internal financial policies.
The role involves close collaboration with Producers and the
finance team to keep projects on track and within budget. This
position will be responsible for cementing structure, systems, and
clarity to support the growing team. Dual reporting to LA and HQ
Finance (located in Sydney). About the Role Own and maintain
production budgets for animation projects, including budget
simulations and ongoing forecast updates Partner closely with
Producers to develop department-level forecasts aligned with crew
planning and production needs Collaborate with the Financial
Controller to maintain overhead budgets and update company-wide
financial forecasts Prepare monthly cost reports and financial
summaries for senior production and finance leadership Support
project bidding by partnering with Producers to build budgets and
finalize external client bids Oversee crew-related financial
tracking, including payroll coordination, union requirements, rate
questions, and location-based cost impacts Review and process
vendor invoices, ensuring alignment with contracts, purchase
orders, and approved production budgets Monitor cash flow and
payment schedules to ensure timely payments to vendors and
stakeholders Reconcile tax credit estimates and ensure compliance
with government regulations and stakeholder agreements Support
internal and external audits to ensure financial accuracy and
regulatory compliance About You 8 years of experience in production
accounting, preferably within animation or VFX Bachelor’s degree in
Accounting or equivalent experience; CPA a plus Strong proficiency
in production accounting software Greenslate and Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance &
Operations (D365 F&O) essential Strong capability in Power BI,
including building dashboards, data modeling, and report
visualization Prior exposure to system implementation or finance
transformation projects. Working knowledge of the animation
production pipeline, including department structures and cost
drivers Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple
priorities in a fast-paced production environment Strong
communication and interpersonal skills, with experience
collaborating across teams, vendors, and clients Proven ability to
identify, troubleshoot, and resolve financial issues while keeping
